Stateside H-1B Renewal Pilot Program to Commence in January 2024

GG&W Admin

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has announced that their long anticipated pilot program to allow H-1B visa holders to renew their nonimmigrant visas in the United States instead of at a U.S. embassy/consulate abroad will begin in January 2024. This visa renewal pilot program is one of multiple measures the DOS is attempting in order to decrease wait times for travelers seeking entry into the United States. Initially, this H-1B stateside renewal program will only be eligible to 20,000 participants. The DOS plans to provide full details of the program in a Federal Register notice to be published soon, which should also explain how eligible participants can apply to be selected in this pilot program.
