Practice Alert: Clients Report Receiving Texts, Emails, and Phone Calls from USCIS

GG&W Admin

The USCIS has informed the American Immigration Lawyers Association that it is sending communications to adjustment applicants or their representatives with notice that an RFE will be sent for Form I-693. The USCIS is attempting to adjudicate as many adjustment of status applications as possible before September 30, 2021, which is the end of the USCIS’ fiscal year. As such, they are providing advance notice that an RFE will be issued, so that applicants may respond with completed medicals upon receipt of the RFE. Applicants should wait until they receive the RFE to send the Form I-693 to USCIS, as the RFE will provide the proper instructions for filing. However, it is recommended that members file Form I-693 as quickly as possible so that the case can be adjudicated prior to September 30, 2021.

The USCIS also acknowledge that they will be providing further guidance to the public to confirm that this is not a phishing or other type of email scam.
